EliteFTS: The Early Years, Part One

EliteFTS: The Early Years, Part One   It’s almost been a decade now that I’ve been associated with EFS; as a writer, Q/A contributor, employee or just general pain-in-the-ass.  Last week I stopped in to pick up a few barbells and was amazed at how far EFS has come.  The warehouse had a dozen workers, the shelves were packed with books, supplements, Metal Gear and everything you could shake chalk at.  Like Virginia Slims, EFS has come a long way, baby.  What many people don’t know is how I saw it from the beginning; the days at 122 S. Main St.  I met Dave Tate in person when I was at the University of Kentucky. Prior to that I had read all of Dave’s articles and Q/A’s on Deepsquatter.  This website was run by Jason Burnell and Dave had a rough version of what you see at EFS today; people would send Dave questions and every couple weeks Dave would post the questions and the answers.  Along with the articles by Louie Simmons (also on Deepsquatter), this was the one only place other than PLUSA that you could get information on Westside Barbell.  Bob Youngs would also help on various lifting forums; answering questions and posting his workouts.  It was a much different world on forums.
